Wiesloch, 14 December 2018 – MLP founder Dr. h.c. Manfred Lautenschläger will celebrate his 80th birthday tomorrow among family and close friends. He co-founded the financial services provider in 1971, was its Chairman of the Board until 1999 and subsequently served on the Supervisory Board until mid-2018, from 1999 to 2008 as its Chairman. During this year's Annual General Meeting, he was appointed Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MLP SE. His son Matthias has since represented the family in this body, his son Maximilian is a member of the Supervisory Board of the subsidiary MLP Finanzberatung SE.
In addition to his function at MLP, Manfred Lautenschläger is heavily involved in social projects. In 1999 he founded the Manfred Lautenschläger Foundation in order to promote research and science and pursue cultural and social goals. It is among the largest private foundations in Germany and focuses geographically on the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and the city of Heidelberg, with which Manfred Lautenschläger has close ties as a citizen and patron.
In 2009 Manfred Lautenschläger was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, First Class. One year previously, the University of Heidelberg had awarded him an honorary doctorate.
Manfred Lautenschläger completed his legal studies in Heidelberg, Freiburg and Hamburg in 1969 with the second state examination in law. He is married and has five children and nine grandchildren.
