Ewald Wesp to become Managing Director of the Banking Association of Baden-Wurttemberg

Wiesloch, 24th April 2012 – Ewald Wesp (59), a long-serving member of the Executive Board of MLP Finanzdienstleistungen AG and Chairman of the former MLP Bank AG, will become the new Managing Director of the Banking Association of Baden-Wurttemberg (“Bankenverband Baden-Württemberg”) on 1st January 2013. Wesp, who carries executive responsibility for the banking business at MLP, will be leaving the company upon expiry of his contract of service on 31st December 2012 at the age of 60 and of his own volition. He will however maintain close links with the MLP Group in an advisory capacity and will also take up a supervisory board role for the Luxemburg-based operations of the MLP subsidiary Feri.

“Ewald Wesp very successfully built up MLP‘s banking business – particularly with the formation of MLP Bank AG – and thereby significantly contributed to our advancement in recent years. Today, banking is an integral part of our consulting approach and our full bank licence provides us with a unique selling proposition in the market,” comments MLP Chief Executive Officer Dr. Uwe Schroeder-Wildberg. The Executive and Supervisory Boards thanked Ewald Wesp today for his very successful work. In future, the responsibility for the banking business will be divided among the remaining members of the Executive Board.

Ewald Wesp is a banker and a graduate in business management. During the period from 1968 to 1996 he held various posts in the banking industry. From 1985 to 1990 he headed up the corporate client business of the Baden-Württemberg Bank in Heidelberg, and from 1990 to 1996 he carried responsibility for the bank’s business expansion in the former East German states. Since 1997 Ewald Wesp has been an Executive Board member at MLP, initially as Board spokesman and then as Chairman of MLP Bank AG. Since the amalgamation of MLP Finanzdienstleistungen AG into MLP Bank AG he has been a member of the Executive Board of that company. Ewald Wesp sits on several committees including a position on the Executive Board of the Banking Association of Baden-Wurttemberg and as a member of the Monetary and Credit Committee of the German Chamber of Trade and Commerce (“Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag”).
